Everything you need to know about the hybrid mattress

Nowadays when it comes to choosing a mattress, you are probably faced with different technologies regarding mattress selection.

However, one specific type of mattress, the hybrid mattress, has emerged as a bestseller for many reasons. We'll explain everything.

What is a hybrid mattress?

The so-called hybrid mattress combines different technologies, namely pocket springs and foam. It is a revolutionary technology in bedding. At MORPHEA, they are made with individual pocket springs and Morphea Bed Technology memory foam, thus offering a soft feel and optimal sleeping independence.

They are recommended for people who have restless sleep, suffer from heat while sleeping, and prefer to fall asleep on their side.

Why choose a hybrid mattress and why is it beneficial?

The benefits of a hybrid mattress for your sleep are numerous:

- It adapts to all sleeping positions, whether you prefer to sleep on your back, stomach, or side. It keeps your spine in a natural position and ensures optimal body alignment.
- It is suitable for all types of sleepers, whether they tend to move a lot or remain still during the night. Thanks to its ability to absorb movement, it limits disturbances caused by your partner's movements.
- It effectively regulates heat and humidity thanks to its spring design, which promotes air circulation, and its comfort layers, which wick away perspiration, thus providing a feeling of freshness and comfort.
- Its durability is remarkable, as it resists compaction and sagging better than foam or latex mattresses, thus maintaining its shape and support for many years.

How do I choose the best hybrid mattress for me?

Choosing the right hybrid mattress involves answering various questions related to your body type, any back problems, sensitivity to allergies, and even your sleeping position.

We'll give you the keys to making the best possible choice.

Foam Density

Opt for a high density of memory foam and high-density foam to ensure optimal support and increased durability of the mattress. It is advisable to choose a foam of at least 35kg/M3 for greater comfort, which is the case with our MILA, JADE, and VICTORIA hybrid mattresses.

Thickness and Number of Layers

The combination of different layers such as memory foam, high-density foam, and support foams contributes to the overall comfort of the mattress. Adequate thickness ensures a good balance between support and comfort.

Pocket Spring Density

The higher the number of pocket springs, the better the quality of the hybrid mattress in terms of support. Make sure the mattress offers a sufficient number of springs for your specific mattress size. In addition, pocket springs contribute to excellent ventilation, thus ensuring a healthier and more durable mattress. This is particularly important to prevent moisture and bacteria accumulation.

Motion Isolation The mattress's ability to absorb movement, thanks to memory foam and pocket springs, ensures motion isolation, ideal for couples.

Hypoallergenic

If you have allergy concerns, make sure the mattress is designed to minimize allergic reactions. At MORPHEA, all our mattresses are hypoallergenic and made with environmentally friendly materials.

Remember that you have the option to test our mattresses for 100 nights and return them to us if they are not suitable for you.

Are hybrid mattresses suitable for people with back pain?

Among mattresses, those that use hybrid technology stand out as an ideal choice for relieving back pain. Opt for a high-end model, such as the VICTORIA hybrid mattress, offering firm support and a soft feel. Its composition of different foam layers (ComfortFeel, memory foam, support...) combined with pocket springs ensures optimal support for the spine, reducing pressure points on sensitive areas such as the back, hips, and shoulders. This mattress guarantees pain-free sleep upon waking and motion isolation thanks to its springs absorbing your partner's movements. To learn more about the VICTORIA mattress, click here.

Also, consider checking out our memory foam collection, which brings together all ranges of back comfort.

How long does a hybrid mattress last?

The lifespan of a hybrid mattress is generally 7 to 10 years on average.

Mattresses with pocket springs tend to be more durable than those made solely of foam layers. Springs, being made of steel, are sturdier and less prone to sagging over time compared to foam. This is why all our mattresses contain a sufficient number of pocket springs.

Furthermore, at MORPHEA, we offer a warranty of up to 10 years, to reassure you about the quality of our mattresses for purchase.

How do I maintain my hybrid mattress?

Maintaining a hybrid mattress is similar to maintaining a classic mattress. You can easily clean it with our tips:

Remove stains with soapy water

Soapy water can be a good way to clean a mattress because it breaks down and removes stains and dirt. Soap contains surfactants that reduce the surface tension of water, allowing it to penetrate the mattress fibers and remove ingrained dirt. In addition, soap can help eliminate unpleasant odors and disinfect the mattress by killing bacteria and germs on the surface. However, it is important not to over-wet the mattress and to rinse and dry it thoroughly after cleaning to prevent moisture buildup and mold growth. It is also recommended to follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning the mattress and to use mild cleaning products to avoid damaging the mattress materials.

Use dry Sommières clay

Dry Sommières clay is an effective method for cleaning a mattress, as it absorbs stains and odors present on the mattress. This natural clay has absorbent and degreasing properties, making it ideal for removing moisture, bacteria, and dirt embedded in the mattress fibers.

Unlike water-based cleaning methods, dry Sommières clay does not require rinsing or drying after cleaning, which prevents moisture accumulation in the mattress and mold growth.

However, it is important to note that Sommières clay may not be effective at removing stubborn stains or dirt embedded deep in the mattress fibers.

Clean with a mixture of white vinegar, lukewarm water, and dish soap

Using a mixture of white vinegar, lukewarm water, and dish soap can be an effective method for cleaning a mattress.

White vinegar is a natural cleaner with antibacterial and deodorizing properties, making it a popular choice for household cleaning. Lukewarm water helps dilute the vinegar and dissolve dirt, while dish soap helps remove greasy stains and dirt embedded in the mattress fibers.

How to do it? Simply mix one cup of white vinegar with two cups of lukewarm water and a tablespoon of dish soap. Then, pour the mixture into a spray bottle and spray evenly over the mattress. Let it sit for about 15 to 30 minutes to allow the mixture to penetrate the mattress fibers and remove stains and odors. Finally, wipe the mattress with a clean, damp cloth to remove any soap and dirt residue, then let the mattress dry completely before putting the sheets back on.

It is important to note that this tip should only be used on fabric mattresses and may not be effective at removing stubborn stains or persistent odors. It is recommended to test the mixture on a small area of the mattress before using it on the entire surface to avoid damaging the mattress materials.

Remember to rinse to avoid any inconvenience.

Eliminate bad odors with baking soda

Baking soda is a natural product with absorbent and deodorizing properties. It can dissipate certain odors without too much difficulty.

To use this tip, simply sprinkle an even layer of baking soda on the mattress and let it sit for about 30 minutes to an hour. The baking soda will absorb odors and moisture present in the mattress. Then, use a vacuum cleaner to remove the baking soda from the mattress.

Which bed base should I choose for a hybrid mattress?

For a hybrid mattress, it's generally recommended to choose a slatted bed base, appreciated for its stability and breathability. Closely spaced slats help maintain consistent support and a more even feel, especially for daily use. A support that is too soft or irregular can alter the perceived comfort and support. If in doubt, refer to the recommendations on the mattress product page (dimensions, condition of the bed base, type of slats).
